Last night there was an epic thunderstorm - our house was in the mix for at least 2 hours. I loved it and it reminded me of being home in Oklahoma where I grew up with rolling thunderstorms frequently. We don't get them all the time here in Utah, but when we do - they're pretty amazing. This morning, I woke up to a blanket of fog, so I jumped out of bed, grabbed a cup of coffee, loaded the dog in the car and went on a photo reconnaissance mission. See I'm preparing for a competition - the National Weather Center Biennale. I'm gonna paint fog.

The Biennale is focussed on weather related art and while my forte may not be on clouds, epic storms, lighting or other events, I do know me some fog. I've been painting foggy mountain scenes and landscapes for a couple years now and I'm gaining more and more control over the wax and my materials to create the dreamy scapes I see in my head. I've also been playing around with Instagram and to try out compositions. The results are promising.
