I've been looking back through my sketchbook and the scenes I captured from our recent roadtrip. On our way to BC we stopped in the Cascades in Washington to go for a hike up to Franklin Falls. The hike was mellow and filled with families exploring the cool, aqua stream and shady forest floor. The base of the falls was a perfect picnic spot and full of people enjoying the refreshing mist as the water tumbled over the rocks. While on location, I was able to get a rough sketch down, but then kept coming back to work on it, adding watercolor next, then more ink lines. I also explored adding figures there at the bottom - the shapes turned out better than I hoped!
