Swaner Nature Preserve Mural.

A Lively Introduction to the Preserve through Art on the Building’s Exterior.

2020 Swaner Preserve Mural

During quarantine in the spring of 2020, I reached out to the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter to see if they might want a mural. They did, and they wanted a mural on the exterior of the building to help introduce the preserve to visitors and enliven their entrance. As part of the development for the mural, I spent time out on the preserve observing and taking stock of the flowers, plants, animals and birds. We developed an idea to paint the preserve at the building’s entrance to give people an idea of what they were walking into and also get rid of the boring architecture panels. The mural was completed in August 2020 with the help of Swaner Volunteers extraordinaire, Bob and Leslie. Big thanks to Swaner Preserve for letting me paint their building.

It all began with a way to do some good during the Pandemic. Use my skills as an artist to make the world a better place. I love nature, the outdoors and especially the good work at the Swaner Nature Preserve and EcoCenter, so it was a natural fit for me to help the Preserve beautify and energize their outdoor space.
